People are quite intimidated by LCD TVs simply because there is a lot of
technical stuff in there. People don’t know what terms like dejudder
processing mean and hence they quickly lose interest in TVs. I too faced
similar problems but as a complete tech freak, I spent a lot of time on the
Internet researching about these terms. Writing LCD TV reviews is a cup of
tea for me now and now there are lots of TVs ending up in my labs for
review. My popularity has gradually grown on the Internet and now people
send me tons of e-mails asking about technical TV stuff. I am trying to make
things a bit simple here by telling you guys how I write the LCD TV reviews.

Styling: If you are crazy about fashion, this will be the most important
part for you in LCD TV Reviews. Most TV’s have the same looks but there are
experiments being done here (like Sony’s Monolithic design) in order to make
the TV look out of the box. I have not had any ugly looking TVs in my labs;
most of the panels have black border with a sheet of glass in the middle. I
have separate section for the design in my LCD TV Reviews since I get a lot
of e-mails asking me about it.

Size: This is directly proportional to the cost. Higher the size, higher the
cost. While writing LCD TV Reviews, I pay special attention to the features
offered on the smaller TVs of 32-34 inch sizes. I don’t expect them to have
full HD resolution but things are getting interesting for this size range;
there are new features being added here at the moment. Once you go above the
46 inch mark, I don’t recommend buying a LCD; as plasma is a much better
option.

Remote: This is the medium of communication between you and your TV. The
clicker has to be comfortable; the button layout must be good. The buttons
that you need the most must come close to the thumb’s natural position. The
remote design occupies a big part in my LCD TV reviews and it is really
important. A clicker must be comfortable or else it will ruin the TV
experience.

Menu layout: While writing LCD TV Reviews, I have seen some really horrible
menu layouts and they are quite frustrating. You some times feel that you
are solving a crossword puzzle. The menu layout has to be good, all the
functions that you need the most must be easily accessible. The features
which are rarely used can be dug deeper in the menu. You might feel this is
not important now but once you buy a TV with a bad menu layout, it will
certainly get on your nerves.

Interactive platform: This is a relatively new feature for TVs and has
quickly become popular amongst the masses. You can access the Internet
content right from your TV and also stream movies through the Web. In my LCD
TV Reviews, I mention what all interactive features are present in the TV.
If you have the ones that you need, go ahead and buy the TV or else keep
looking elsewhere.

Connection options: This is not that important in LCD TV Reviews but still
worth a mention. In big TVs, the connection options are pretty much similar
but in small TVs there is no fixed layout. For instance, there might be one
HDMI port in one 32 inch TV and it might not be there in the other one.

Finally, I write about the picture quality in my LCD TV Reviews and this
section is the biggest part of my article. Picture quality determines
whether the panel is worth buying or not.

Deciding what to watch on TV is a different experience for everyone and the process has changed over the years. Viewers used to have the newspaper and TV Guide as a source for program listings. As technology advanced, viewers were able to search using the internet, and even using a guide right on their satellite TV. Resources have changed, but viewer’s love for television has not.

Watching TV can be a planned process or a spontaneous activity. Some viewers like to plop down on the TV, relax, and use the remote to flip through the channels until they find something that interests them. Others like to sit down already knowing what program they are going to watch. For these viewers, there has always been a different resource to go to.

Newspaper: For years, daily print newspapers have provided a listing of TV programs for that day, organized by channel. Flip to the section that also usually contains the movie times, comic strips, and crossword puzzles and you can see all the programs that will be on that day, at what time, on what channel, and usually a little description. Some newspapers color code movies and sports listings so that you can easily decipher between the different programs.

TV Guide: The TV Guide was first published in 1953, before there was even such thing as satellite TV. Before TV Guide there was also TV Forecast, TV Digest, and Television Guide, but they were all bought by the same company, which combined them all and produced TV Guide. The magazine could be subscribed to or purchased in grocery stores. The TV Guide has gone through several changes over the years, and is still used today, although the print version is not used as much thanks to the internet.

Internet: The internet has taken over just about everything, including researching what to watch on TV. Each channel has their own website which you can visit to view their specific listings. You can even catch up on already aired shows on websites for channels such as ABC and NBC. The TV Guide has their own website which lists programs, and websites such as yahoo do the same. The internet has made finding TV listings convenient and inexpensive, since you do not have to pay for the newspaper or another print version of the TV listings.

On-screen program guide: Satellite TV has made searching program listings easier than ever. You do not have to search ahead of time; you can search on your TV right from the comfort of your couch, using your remote control. On-screen program guides are usually accessed by pushing the “guide” button on your remote control, and all of the listings will pop up on your screen. The listings will not block whatever you are currently watching, just make it smaller, so you are able to scroll through the program options without missing anything. Most guides allow you to view listings for the next two weeks. Within the guide you can even set DVR recordings.

TV continues to be a favorite way for people to spend their time, and companies continue to cater to this. It seems that TV is not going away anytime soon, and it is getting easier and easier, evident by the increasing technology such as high definition, DVR, and on-screen program guides.

I’m working on a suprize for my grandparents and I need to print puzzles of old tv shows. MASH, Murder she wrote, Becker and Cheers! It would be great if I could have some puzzles based on those show HELP!!!!!!!!! THANKS!

What an absolutely creative and thoughtful gift. I hope that when I am a grandparent, I am lucky enough to have a grandchild as thoughtful. Unfortunately, I have no old crossword puzzles. However, I searched for “TV Guide crossword puzzles from 1970′s & 1980′s” and found a reference to The Big Book of TV Guide Crossword Puzzles at the first site below. I also found another site that allows you to access puzzles: TV Guide Crossword Puzzles for You
